New Coordinator Joins UBC's e-Portfolio Community of Practice

Kele Fleming joined UBC's campus-wide e-Portfolio pilot project this summer, as the newly appointed e-Portfolio Community of Practice Coordinator.

UBC's e-Portfolio Community of Practice meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month.  Visit the
e-Learning web site for details.

Kele will be supporting the TLEF-sponsored initiative, "Campus-Wide Online Environment for e-Portfolios". In coordinating the nine

e-Portfolio pilot projects and managing the e-Portfolio Community of Practice, she will facilitate the exchange of best practice, sharing resources, and more.

Kele brings a strong history of coordination and community-building to UBC's e-Portfolio initiative. For the past seven years she served as the Web Coordinator for UBC's geographically and discipline diverse Library system, gaining valuable experience related to working with diverse groups in support of common needs and goals. Kele also represented the Library on a number of campus-wide web and learning technology committees, including CART, the WebCT Institute, and the Web Communication Professionals Group.

Kele holds a BA in English and a diploma in Internet Programming, both from UBC.

Kele is also an active educator in the Lower Mainland. She has taught numerous web and learning technology classes at UBC (TAG, the WebCT Institute) and other educational institutions such as Emily Carr, Capilano College , and Langara College . As well, she developed an adult computer literacy program for two community schools in Port Coquitlam and Port Moody. When not working at UBC, you may see Kele performing original music and spoken word at a number of Vancouver venues.

Kele takes over the role from Karen Belfer, who did a fantastic job in starting up the pilot in its first year and set the community and project on the right path. Karen will still be part of the community of practice, but is finishing up her PhD and returning to her original position as a project manager and course designer with Distance Education and Technology.

You can reach Kele by phone (2-9287), e-mail (kele.fleming@ubc.ca) or in person in the Office of Learning Technology, 209 Klinck Building. She is currently in the process of scheduling meeting with the project leads. Community of Practice meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month, check the e-Learning web site for details.

Welcome, Kele!
